The Fantasy of Lights is a tradition that has been on campus for 40 years. With 13 maintenance workers and a few volunteers, it takes 600 to 800 hours to set up all the displays. Most of the refurbished maintenance is done before set up or after the Fantasy of Lights.
“Last couple of years what we’ve done is, we’ve kind of tried to get some of the older displays refurbished. This year we were able to do Dumbo, the Skaters’ Table and Flipper. Last year we redid the train, the ferris wheel with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” Armando Muniz, grounds maintenance superintendent, says.
MSU-Burns Fantasy of Lights is open from dusk to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Fridays and Saturdays it is open dusk to 11 p.m. It will be open until Dec. 28.
